Electrical Engineering

Plante attended Southern Illinois University. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering, although he never became an engineer. Instead, Plante used the extensive knowledge he gained to focus on investing in various technology and biotechnology-related businesses. He has gone on to found and co-found several companies and worked at several others to make a name for himself.

A Son’s Worst Nightmare

Plante’s father died of kidney failure caused by his genetic disorder, polysistic kidney disease. Plante himself discovered he too shared the disease, and vowed to do everything he could to prevent himself from suffering the same fate as his departed dad. With advances in medicine, the younger Plante is able to continue on thanks to transplant operations and research that has helped make the disease survivable.

This has also inspired him to start the Foundation for Kidney Transplant Research. With it, he does everything in his power to make advancements and find new information that can help make kidney transplants successful for all patients, including those who may not be able to afford it. Plante has also received several patents for things he has created that will aid in his efforts.

Before he founded and co-founded several of his own business, Plante worked at Beltronics. He helped the company increase its revenue and get out of debt after launching a new product line. The company provides radar safety systems using high-performance millimeter waves. Plante was just thirty years old when he achieved success with this business.
